š How I Created My Blog Using Hostinger & WordPress (And How You Can Too!)
Starting a blog had been on my mind for a while. I wanted a place to share my thoughts, talk about what I love, and maybe even make a little extra cash on the side. But Iāll admitāI was a bit nervous at first. II wanted something that was simple to navigate. After some searching, I found Hostinger and WordPress, and honestly, the whole process was way easier than I expected.
Whether you want to share your hobbies, your story, or even just try something new, blogging is an amazing creative outlet. Let me walk you through exactly how I got startedāstep by step.
š§ Step 1: Choosing Hostinger for My Hosting & Domain
I came across Hostinger after reading a few good reviews, and Iām glad I did. They make everything so beginner-friendly.
Hereās what I did:
- Went to hostinger.com
- Picked the WordPress Starter plan (it includes a free domain!)
- Registered my domain name (aka my blog’s web address)
- Created my account and checked out
Once I logged into my Hostinger dashboard, there was a super helpful setup wizard that asked me if I wanted to use WordPressāeasy yes.
š Step 2: Installing WordPress (Super Simple)
Hostinger actually installed WordPress for me during setup, but if yours doesnāt:
- Go to your Hostinger dashboard
- Click āWebsitesā > Manage Site
- Choose Auto Installer > WordPress
- Enter your blog title and login info
- Click Install
š Thatās it! I had a real blog live on the internet.
šØ Step 3: Picking a Theme That Felt Like Me
The next step was making it look good. WordPress has tons of free themes. I wanted something clean and simple, so I went with a theme called Astra.
- Log into WordPress (yourdomain.com/wp-admin)
- Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New
- Browse around and pick what fits your vibe
- Click Install > Activate
Donāt stress too muchājust go with something that feels right. You can always change it later.
āļø Step 4: Writing My First Post
This was the most exciting partāgetting to actually write. I went to:
- Posts > Add New
- Typed out my title and content
- Added a couple of images (just drag and drop!)
- Hit Publish
And just like that⦠I was a blogger.
āļø Step 5: Adding Some Helpful Plugins
Plugins are like little apps for your blog. I added a few to make things run smoother:
- Yoast SEO ā helps you show up on Google
- WPForms ā for contact forms
- Jetpack ā for stats and backups
- Wordfence ā for security
To install:
- Go to Plugins > Add New
- Search for one
- Click Install then Activate
š Step 6: Creating Essential Pages
I also made a few basic pages to round out the blog:
- About Me ā a quick intro
- Contact ā so people can reach out
- Privacy Policy ā important if you collect emails or run ads
Create these under Pages > Add New.
š” Final Thoughts
Blogging has become such a fun outlet for me. I get to write about things I love, connect with others, and explore different ideasāand who knows? Maybe turn it into something that earns money down the road.
If youāve been thinking about starting a blog, I say go for it. With Hostinger and WordPress, itās super beginner-friendly and doesnāt cost a ton. Plus, you never know where it might take you. š
Happy blogging!
